so, it was pretty tough to leave canada. from accumulated more than 14 meters of snow and -40°C on the coldest day it suddenly was 35°C and...nobody knows what snow is here! not just the temperature was very different. fiji is probably the most relaxing place i have ever been to. everything is on "fiji time" which generally means that there is no specific time and those of you who know me just a very little will know that this suits me very very well. never running late again. because everybody is. which would make it..on time again.
but that was obviously not the only amazing thing about these island. the main island is big, dirty and touristy and those who do not leave it will be disappointed big time in fiji! once you take your time to take the local boats and ferries - and share your seat with (many!) cockroaches - to get to more remote and more genuine islands off the "mainland", you will be amazed. two and half minutes to walk around the smallest island. basically one house. and some hammocks. http://www.qamea.com/ this was my absolute favorite. the owner took us to an even smaller island, that he himself owns and not even Google knows about. unreal. that's what it was. it is more like paradise than i have ever imagined in my sweetest dreams. truly magical.
the time on fiji went very quickly and ever after it seemed to me just like one of those dreams where you don't know if they were reality or...not...

well, here started my travels and after missing my first flight in london (good start isn't it?!) i arrived in toronto after 48 hours in planes and on airports. i travelled through ontario and quebec for about a month and was visiting old friends of the family mogensen and did some awesome couchsurfing as well. after being invited back to ottawa for thanksgiving i went on a greyhound bus which took me right through to banff, alberta - 3 days non-stop. the first sight of the rockies completely blew my mind. never in my life have i seen anything that beautiful. after a lot of hiking and mountaineering i left the rockies for whistler. i should here live the last three months of my stay in canada. and it should turn out to be absolutely awesome. it was quite stressful to get accommodation and a job while one million other seasonaires were looking for the same things. but finally everything worked out, opening day came and the fun started. the daily routine from now on was: get up early, snowboard all day, be late for work, have free staff meal, get paid well and choose nightly activities after the amount of energy left. it was tough to leave this place but i had my plans and those were to explore more than only one country. a short stay in vancouver made the end of my stay in the country that should prove itself to be my absolute favorite. oh, canada!

and for those of you who don't speak german: after nine months of travelling i finally take my time to let whoever is interested be a part of what i've seen and experienced. i prefer to actually go see the world rather than sit in front of the computer, so don't get mad at me if it's not gonna be heaps :)
